Forgotten Language presents Metal Decoupe, An Introduction to Haitian Metal Art. After spending the last three years working in Haiti, Lodz Joseph, met Fritz Calixte and after seeing his work, the only words that emerged from her mouth were "Details make the Masterpiece."™ The devastating earthquake on January 12, 2010 changed everything. Somehow, the intersection between tradition, development, recovery, and sustainability manifested itself as core values for Forgotten Language. As an importer of fine Haitian metal art, Forgotten Language, strives to ensure the tradition and beauty of metal decoupe will continue to prosper.
The opening reception for Forgotten Language, will be taking place November 11th, 2010 at Synergy: A Cultural Collective for Social Change from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. This exhibit will contain the work of Jean Ricardo Bastien, Micheal Brutal, Fritz Calixte and Jacques Rony from November 11, 2010 to November 25, 2010. This exhibit, is an invitation to continue and to trace new paths throughout the land of high mountains, called Ayiti. Let us celebrate the beauty, imagination and creativity of the artist in Croix des Bouquets, that are able to take oil drums and turn them into pieces of art.
Forgotten Language, shares the work of emerging artists from Haiti. By investing in Forgotten Language, you ensure that the tradition of Haitian metal arts is passed on to the next generation and can be assured that your investment directly has an impact on the lives of families in Haiti. As Serge Jolimeau, one of the masters of this art, told Ms. Joseph " it is essential that the work of emerging artists are shared and that people know the story of the artists in Croix des Bouquets." Forgotten Language, is for the art, that shares the beauty, love and hope that lives in the tradition of Metal Decoupe.
