Collaboration Amongst Galleries?

Can anyone point me to cities or geographic areas where gallerists collaborate in order to leverage increased support for the arts in general?  I recall that the city of Atlanta had (has) a collegial association of art galleries, and recently found that Denver, Colorado has DADA, The Denver Art Dealers Association (cute play on the name).  There are certainly a few others.  What interests me is the application of strategic collaboration amongst gallerists, in struggling markets, to engender…See More

Profile Information

http://www.artndeed.com

As a writer, artist, collector, and an advocate for the arts, it's my passion to use my experience and training to help artists and those in the art arena realize their ambitions. I do this through a variety of technical and traditional means, often involving creative writing, graphics, web design, coaching, lectures, and all too often elbow-grease.

My personal collection is compact, and centers around a mix of iconic, established and emergent artists, such as Joseph Holston, Jacob Lawrence, Deborah Shedrick, Stan Squirewell, Dion Jacob, Elnora Wilson, William Tolliver, Paul Goodnight, George Nock, E. L. Whitley, Lou Stovall, Ephrem Kouakou, Gidey Gezahey, and others.

This forum will allow me to showcase some of those pieces as well as work by artists with whom I am aligned for the purpose of furthering their growth, exposure and success as they would measure it.

My goal here on BAIA is to contribute as much to the growth of art coming out of the Diaspora as possible by making meaningful and productive offerings of ideas and insights to the collaborative that may emerge. I also hope to grow in spirit and knowledge by viewing the shared thoughts of others who are similarly aligned.

My efforts off-page can be seen at http://www.artndeed.com

Broad Strokes in a Recession

Thought I'd reprint this article that I wrote while we were in the sudden, steep decline of all world markets. Interesting to look back a couple of years - then take a fresh look around....

Building Brand...and Dreams

One of my favorite movies is “Field of Dreams.” I found it to be a well conceived screen play. Stories that have layers of meaning are much easier to sit through and later ponder after the lights come up.

That was one.

Field of Dreams is a poignant story about the inner struggles of several people trying to realize their truest purpose in life. Woven and unfolding in opaque layers, this tale mirrors the struggles that we

all experience in…

Marketing 101: Brand

If you stop to think about the million plus artists living and striving in the USA alone, you might begin to wonder how you're going to make your art stand out from the rest of those good, artistic souls.

Well, the answer is the same as it was for car manufacturers and copy machine makers and internet search engines...over time.

Brand.

Thank you very much.  At one point during my art life, my work was dominated by the male figure.  Within the last 5 years my art began to tell the complete story.

Oh Fantastic, I'm so glad you enjoyed the show.  It really is a great exhibition.  The curators really out did themselves.  I only wish I was able to attend.

Thanks, so much for your kind words.

Hi David,
Sorry for the delayed response.
No the kiln is not fired up yet and I say that with the heaviest heart.
And yes, I did see the newsletter. Thank you for the exposure. The work looks really good there. I enjoyed reading about Mason Archie.
I'm submitting work for an exhibition on abstract art by black artist at Harmony Hall.
Talk to you soon.

Thanks so much for the information on Sammy. I have an orginal piece that he did over 45 years ago - a portrait of me. Sammy is my step father and he painted the portrait from a picture. Robin
