Biography

Contemporary Artist and Poet : Dareece J. Walker

5 Life Goals:

1.) Become a Successful and Respected Professional Artist

2.) Establish an Empire

3.) Face Every Last One of My Fears

4.) Become a Member of the Justice League (use my powers for good and to oppose evil)

5.) Be a Philanthropist

I was born August 16th, 1989 in Manhattan, Kansas. My father Don Walker and mother Jennifer Brown wanted my initials to be their first initials together with my fathers last name, so my mother imagined the name Dáreece (D); and gave me the middle-name ‘Jordan’ (J) after the greatest basketball player to ever play the game. My mother and I moved when I was 3, to Colorado and then to Nebraska when i was 5, where I would live and move back and forth between states for much of my life. As far back as I can remember, Art has always been an interest of mine. From coloring books and puzzles with my mom and the awesome bedtime stories, to playing with Lego’s and video games, the sights and sounds all seemed magical to me. During my freshmen year at Rampart High School in Colorado Springs, in my first art show, I won 1st place for my grade with a self-portrait pencil drawing. From sophomore year I became a Varsity Track athlete, played basketball, and became a member of DECA (Distributive Education Classes of America) which is where i gained a great interest for business. It wasn’t until my senior year, when I moved and attended North Platte High School in Nebraska, that I took another art class.  I met Instructor Denise Wendelin, who helped me develop my skills and challenged me to move through and beyond my being reluctant to make bigger pieces and use color (aka my fear of failure). With her guidance, he was able to place 2nd in an art show during the school year, and even better by winning an honorable mention, 2nd place 2D, and Best of show 2D in the 2007 Art/Tech Fair hosted by Mid Plains Community College.

I started College as a Business major and learned many great things, but towards the end of my Junior year I decided to make a life choice, and live life fearless so i switched my major to Visual and Performing Art.This change added an extra year to my expected graduation, but I’m taking this extra year as time to develop my ideas and prepare myself for a fearless future to do what I love. I have many interests, thoughts and experiences I hope to share  with you in addition to my Artistic Creations.
