David Bruce Graves's Page

David Bruce Graves was born in Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania and grew up in that city and in the San Francisco bay area.  He received a cooperative B.F.A. degree in illustration from the University of San Francisco and the San Francisco Academy of Art College before moving to New York City to begin a successful career as a commercial artist. His current expression, which he loosely defines as "Radiant Symbolism",  is a style of art which celebrates his love affair with color, abstraction, and most typically the human form as it relates to nature. David is particularly inspired by the representational and cultural derivatives of his own African heritage, but ultimately seeks to integrate all of the beautiful and interesting gifts of vision he can channel. His compositions incorporate  traditional and digital technologies symbiotically to create archival imagery which could not be achieved using one or the other alone.
