Art is about our past and present realities. I see my art more at whats in our future. We may have ideas about what the future holds, but we cannot say for certain, what no eye has seen, hearts cannot conceive or ears has heard. I think I want to project a force that gives the unborn a glimpse of their future, as it gives us that same glimpse of what is to come. My art in most cases is spiritual.
I use the term "Transitional"; Everything is in transition, just as we say everything must change. God is making that Change, as it is written in the Book of Daniel , that there would be a increase of knowledge. That simply means God is present. I hope to project in my work of poetry, music and painting that spiritual force that takes you into a journey of self discovery. A journey that provides a meditative healing.
Before I rediscovered my artistic talent, I owned an frame and art business (Kalimah Creations). I met two awesome artist that I call my mentors. I was learning by observation, not knowing what I was becoming. Dr. J. Eugene Grigsby and his student Roosevelt "Rip" Woods body of work inspired me to keep within a primordial frame of thought when it comes to my work. May God be pleased with them.
