I have heard about the Printmaking Center of New Jersey but this is the first time I have actually taken the time to look it up. I believe the founder is a brother who is a professor at Lafayette College. I also believe he is the print maker who pulled the David Driskell Suite a few years ago.
This should be a resource that those artists who do graphics and multiple originals should know and inquire about. I will purchase a…

College Basketball is by far my favorite sport so I am in Atlanta for the ACC Tourney, saw the 4 preliminary games on Thursday, then the quarterfinals on Friday, i decided to pass on the semis today and visited a few artists. I had planned on visiting 3 studios, but ran out of money after 2 visits.
Kevin Love - I will have to come visit you first the next time I am in ATL (Hopefully the last weekend of the NBAF in July).
My first stop was to visit Lonnie Ollivierre in Lithonia.…

Marcella Hayes Muhammad said… Wow, what a great outline of ideas to use. thank you and I will keep them in mind. Hope you find that etching...Europe has been a great place to find little known African American art but more people are getting aware now. Used to know Kay Alvarado who was a real popular Black artist in Germany. I don't know if she is collectable now.

Marcella Hayes Muhammad said… Thank you for the suggestion, Jesse. I am working on doing 20 pieces along with some news clippings my dad saved from the Black Press about the Red Tails and other photos to be printed on canvas for display. I do want to create a traveling show that ends at the museum at Moten Field Tuskegee, Alabama. I am in communication with the curator there. As far as the speaking goes...I'll send a video presentation as I do not like the speaking bit and will avoid it if I am able. Iam trying and just wish I could locate the film interview of my dad done at Norton AFB in California about being a Tuskegee Airman. This is an ongoing project taking time so it will be done right.
Hello, We will definitely be having a art book for Varnette Honeywood, along with a lot of wonderful things. Our website will be finished soon and we have beautiful things on their too. www.varnettephoneywoodart.com and www.varnettphoneywoodfoundation.org.
Thank you.
Marcella Hayes Muhammad said… Thank you for liking my work, Jesse. It is a good shot of vitamin C (create) in the arm! A special thanks to you also for working hard to help pull artists together for a BAIA show. Peace
Reggie Colbert said… Funding is not a problem here. My latest project completed was the silk screen by Joe Holston, "Letter From Birmingham Jail". We funded/published. I love the idea that this artist has. I'm about to undertake a separate book, unrelated to art, that has over 600 pages with a print run of 10,000 copies. I will post to the artist page and see if he responds.
My apologies, by refresh me. We know each other thru???????
Reggie Colbert said… Love it and his style. I see several projects that can come out from this. Do you know the artist? I'd love to have him in our affiliate program for what we are doing on the "give-away-program". I launched a website (itsfreeart.com) whereby we give art away for free, asking that the consumer only have it framed. Check it out.
Reggie Colbert said… I would love to see what he is doing. Just a thought of the magnitude of the endeavor gives me ideas. Would like to know more. You can reach me by email at reggie@rcolbert.com or my cell is 301-343-7453.
