Matthew Putman (Ph.D, Applied Physics), together with his team at Nanotronics Imaging, has developed a high speed, high resolution microscope and imaging tool. Applications include stem cell research, flexible electronics, semiconductors and biosensors. Nanotronics builds microscopes, Artificial Intelligence systems and robotics.
As a classically trained jazz pianist, Matthew is also deeply involved in the arts. He has recorded two solo piano Albums, “Perennial” and most recently “Correlations”, and has recorded and played with many of the country’s leading Free Jazz musicians, including Daniel Carter. Matthew has produced both plays and films.
As an art collector Matthew values living with great art, and even more so getting to know the process and life of the artists in his collection. Matthew has collected works of various media, and finds inspiration in the styles and ideas of the artists that creates them. He has written blogs for Black Art in America and other art sites, and also does his science among artists at Pioneer Works in Red Hook Brooklyn, where together with the artists the is hoping to facilitate year round collaborations.
