My goal as an African American artist has always been to illustrate our true day to day lives through my camera.
I have always felt a sense of obligation to show the experiences of others in a positive light.
I use my photography as a way to counter act the many attempts by the mainstream media to distort the lives of African Americans.

I would like to ask all BAIA members some questions?
How do you define your self as a Artist?
Do you describe your self as Black Artist or as a Artist and if it's Black Artist do you feel this title is helpful or have you every experience any negative reactions from gallerys or museum because of this title.
Would love to know your feedback..

my interest in photography began in 1983 while in high school. it was only after two quarters that I decieded to use photography as the medium to express my vision. I soon attended Sinclair Community College Photography program and then I attened the summer workshops at the Ohio Institute of Photography.
