Yes, the "validity" comment is a valid point.  Creating this Polymer Group on BAIA is one way, I can think of right now, to forward a sense of "legitimacy" to the medium. Polymer is gaining some respect in the art world. Have you visited the Polymer Art Archive site's write up about the Racine Art Museum''s inclusion of polymer artists?  Here's the link http://polymerartarchive.com/collection-project/  Check out my webpage http://www.kdq2.blogspot.com/  to see the "Other Artists working with Polymer Clay" links.  Christopher Malone's "Maloney Sculptures" are incredible!  So too are Patricia Boyd's gourd art.  While she creates the body of her figures from gourds she makes her heads and extremities using polymer.

Do you have any ideas about how to promote this medium as a valid, legitimate category?

Take good care,

Welcome to the Polymer group Stephen.  Your work brings African American culture alive.  Just curious, how did you get interested or learn about this medium?  Feel free to start a group discussion or invite us to create a piece based on a theme.

Looking forward to more conversation.
