The Leading Voice for the Black Arts Community.

Thanks for your Friend Request and warm welcome to the group. You have some very interesting abstract designs. I was excited to see your great use of different papers. I love working with papers myself. The possibilities are endless. Looking forward to jumping into some of the great dialogues...Warm Wishes!

DESMOND MCFARLANE said… Thanks for your comments; I appreciate your positive response to my work. In answer to your question my artistic thought and actions varies according to my creative intent. Each peace has its own particularly conscious and subconscious aim guided by my artistic and cultural sense and sensibilities yet the outcomes are never entirely predictable. My initial intentions are important during the process of my paintings but they are often overpowered by a milieu of subconscious decisions that directs the final results. In a word, I listen to the directive if my inner voice, which speaks to the intrinsic nature of the final results of each piece.
Your collages are like musical arrangement and profoundly composed songs that references the Motherland and her people. Your harmony with colors, design and cultural content is highly notable in your works. Thay are a joy to behold.
I appreciate the request. Peace
Valerie

Hi Sharon,
Hope all is well, I love this site by the way. I am working on a hip hop art book With Russell and Danny Simmons, with contributions from many of today's leading artists (Kehinde Wiley, Shepard Fairey, Marcus Jansen and more). We are offering an opportunity for student artists to be featured in the book (how great is that). We are working on the site as we speak and would love to have the Black Art in America community participate by going to the site and simply voting on which artists they like or feel should be in the book. It is an national contest open to all student artists.
Best Regards,
Dawud Knuckles
