Abridged Bio . . .
Originally from the caribbean region, Winston was born in Nassau, historic capital of the 700 Islands of The Bahamas archipelago. He is a former print media and broadcast journalist and a former Bahamas-based correspondent for United Press international (UPI). Now he is semi-retired after almost two decades in the Diplomatic Service of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas. His last posting abroad was as Consul General. After leaving the diplomatic service he studied photography at the renowned Art Institute of Ft. Lauderdale Florida, and the New York Institute of Photography. He is a proud alumnus of The Catholic University of America (BA) Washington DC, and of the University of Miami (Paralegal Studies), Coral Gables Florida.
Artist Statement . . .
“…To me, photography is an art of observation … that is, an intense and inquisitive reflection of a subject matter with a profound but balanced objective in mind. Some have referred to this as ‘previsualization.’ When all is said, however, photography has less to do with THE THINGS WE SEE, but everything to do with THE WAY WE SEE THINGS…”
By far the most noteworthy recognition Winston has received in the field of photography was being selected as the cover story and feature for the September 2012 Issue of ArtFlow Magazine. ArtFlow is published by London-based Gbenga Mogaji a Nigerian national who, at the time, was also the online magazine's Editorial Director.
