My art comes from my love of color and movement, often inspired by music (Jazz). Listening to a Jazz Album (Yes, I still have those old dusty relics from the past that sound like nothing else) I get moved to paint. I'm also moved by the people I meet and the stories each possess.
I paint as a hobby, it is a form of expression. I receive great joy from hearing what other see and feel from my works of art, as they are mostly abstracts, which lends to each person seeing something different. I truly feel that what someone sees in an abstract painting comes from within themselves, how they may feel at that moment, and even that is subject to change. So really, the painting seems always evolving, expressing and telling a different story each time it's viewed. What is most rewarding and surprising is speaking with people and finding out how my art makes them feel.
I can not say I'm a formerly trained/taught artist, I have taken classes and some training and found them a bit restrictive. However, as a retiree, I just may go and take some more classes and see what those young folk are doing again.
Finally and most importantly feeling that anything that I've painted has helped someone in someway is a great reward. Creating something beautiful and meaningful means that it's helped, improved and changed others lives for the better. Knowing that makes me feel like I have done something worth while and that motivates me .
