All Eyez On Haitian-American Artist's Solo Exhibit

After seven years of being an artist, Jason "JaFleu" Fleurant who has been known to be quite prolific in his creative process. Building a body of work that is undeniable, many of his paintings have never even been exhibited. On June 17th, there will be an opening exhibiting 9 of the Haitian American self-taught painters works from 2012 to 2015 on loan from various collectors private collections.

But that is not all, JaFleu will be debuting over 13 brand new pieces of artwork from his "Colored Folkz" Collection. This new bright & bold colorful painting style celebrates the joy and beauty of Black Culture. A percentage of sales of his new paintings will be donated to Be Your Own Answer's "Girls Call The Shots".

The exhibition is being held on the 3rd Floor of The 1310 Gallery, the 1st gallery JaFleu ever exhibited in 6 years ago.

"Give me a Museum and I'll fill it up" - Pablo Picasso

On Sunday, we hung the #AllEyezOnMe exhibit of my work. I have so many feelings about this exhibit and this building. I feel like the 1310 Gallery always comes to play in my art career to solidify something.

It was the first gallery I ever exhibited in. That was back in 2011, 18 days after my 27th birthday. It was a Haitian art exhibit. My 4 pieces where on the first floor and I remember seeing them through the window and being so excited.

My next thing was last year as I heavily focused on Exhibit Treal. Actually today last year was the opening of the Books, Bites & Arts exhibit where through ET I got to curate all 3 floors of the gallery putting for other artists. Moving pass doing clubs or outdoor events. It established Exhibit Treal and my curator hat. Especially when we were allowed to do the All The Way Up closing on my Father's birthday.  It's wild considering it's Haitians Mother's Day and I created all these motherhood pieces.

And now here we are today. Establishing, solidifying myself as the artist. Living out the things I've read of other artists achieving. Today was a good day and this is a blessing. I look forward to seeing you all.

P.s. and we got word that we got blessed that the exhibit is now the whole top floor!!! I'm making new pieces this week. Leggo!!
