Black Madonnas are found throughout the world. In sculptures, paintings, frescoes, etc.  Many believe the Templars brought the Black Madonna from Ethiopia. No doubt there are several other fascinating stories and legends circulating. There’s even a cult. If interested here are two suggested books for additional reading:

Black Madonna and Child by Joe Cauchi
There were two men named Joe Cauchi who were both 20th century African-American artists. Very little biographical information is available about either of them. But it has been confirmed that the Black Madonna and Child pictured to the left was produced by Joseph M. Cauchi (born in 1918). The other Cauchi was born in 1905.

The exquisite painting below is by an artist I fancy but I know only by the name Ballenger.  Wish I could say more but like Cauchi, there doesn't seem to be much information about him or her or it (???) on the Internet.  Maybe I'm just not looking in the right places.  Nevertheless the artwork is quite lovely and evokes a mood of serenity and calmness.

Thanks for the comment Algebra Works.

Yeah I think most people know that Catholicism borrowed a lot from pagan religions.  At least, I do.  I went to Catholic school.  So you say original records have been found?  Cool!!!  I'll bet they found a lot of original stuff when Iraq was invaded.

Her name started out as Semiramis, but then it was changed in other cultures. She is known as Isis, Diana, Astarte, Ishtar, Aphrodite, Venus, Easter and the original version of the Catholic Mary.
This mother/son image of Isis Queen of Heaven with baby Horus the sun-god is the true identity of the Catholic “Mary & baby Jesus” We’ve all seen this image on Christmas cards and Catholic imagery, but this image is the goddess Semiramis, Easter, Isis, and her son & husband Nimrod, Tammuz, Horus, Osirus etc. (Genesis) 10:8-10 And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth. He was a mighty hunter before YHWH: wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before YHWH. And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel/Bagdad. (These original records /Tablets were discovered by the U.S. upon their evasion of Iraq/Babel.)
