Legendary Last Poet Abiodun Oyewole wants to say something beautiful but bad feelings, bad thoughts and unresolved history seem to be getting in his way. Abiodun Oyewole is a founding member of The Last Poets who cleared a path for the birth of hip-hop. He is publishing his first poetry collection, BRANCHES OF THE TREE OF LIFE. THE COLLECTED POEMS OF ABIODUN OYEWOLE 1969-2014, with 2Leaf Press Spring 2014. With an Introduction by Betty J. Dopson, edited by 2Leaf Press publisher, Gabrielle David, and cover design by Vagabond. The video, "Something Beautiful" is the first in a series of short films highlighting the life and poetry of Abiodun Oyewole by Vagabond, with DP Jeff "AK" Akers.

I invited Abiodun Oyewole of The Last Poets to share his poems with my sculptures in my solo exhibition in London in October 2016 (UK Black History Month).  This sculpture I made 'BE' is inspired by his poem 'Something Beautiful' using the first and last line - More information on the exhibition in my blog
