UNCOMMON NATURE: The Abstractions of Freddie Styles
April 20–July 13, 2025
UMGC Arts Program Gallery
OPENING RECEPTION AND ARTIST TALK with author Halima Taha
Sunday, April 27, 2025, 3–5 p.m.

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) President Gregory Fowler and the UMGC Arts Program invite you to explore the art of nationally acclaimed artist Freddie Styles.
For six decades, Styles has been engaged in the visual arts as both an abstract artist and art curator, working with numerous artists. The works in this exhibition explore the artist’s life and experiences on paper and canvas and serve as a testament to his perseverance, exploration, and dedication. Styles’s works are included in private and public collections in the United States and abroad.
Please join us for a conversation with the artist and Halima Taha, who provided the essay for the catalog, as she uncovers layers of the artist and his art.
