"Kia" by Wycliffe Bennett

24 x 30 inches, mixed media (fabric, polymer resin, metal, and wood), wall hanging piece

Linc’s first remembered artistic efforts occur as a child in Jamaica drawing palm trees on his slate (yes back in those days they really used slates).  In his early teens he recalls spending summers doing pencil landscapes along the banks of the Bronx River in the New York Botanical Gardens.

Linc is a self-taught artist.  He has had several successful one-man shows. He has also participated in many shows (receiving awards), museums, galleries, television, made illustrations for local newspapers, civic organizations, greeting card companies and private collections.

Linc is best known for his fabric collages. Many of which are portraits. Using fabrics, the way others use paint, he also creates landscapes, seascapes and abstract pieces. Linc’s works is becoming increasingly three dimensional.  His sculptures (which all have fabric skins) are also about people.

He spent more than thirty years pursuing a corporate career in which he was satisfied and successful. In 2000 Linc left corporate. He spent the next three years teaching accounting and finance. Linc took the extra time teaching afforded him to pursue his art. He became a full-time professional artist in 2005.

Linc emigrated from Jamaica in the 1950's settling in the South Bronx.  Using G.I. benefits he attended Hunter College. Linc subsequently earned an MBA from Columbia. Linc is a CPA and a former VP and CFO. He now lives between the west end of Atlanta GA and Montego Bay Jamaica, with his wife Dothlyn where he paints, write poetry and perform community service
